  • We are excited to be introducing Redact All, an enhancement to our redaction function that will allow users to search for a word or phrase they’d like to redact in a document, and then redact all instances of that search term at once by selecting “Redact All.” You will also be able to selectively redact each instance one by one by clicking “Redact,” for those instances where redaction decisions need a little more finessing. Fixes

  • Resolved an issue with bulk download in which users with the default content role of No Access, but with Viewer access to individual folders, were unable to bulk download from the root folder.

  • In this release, the Administrator and Support groups will now have the bulk download feature enabled by default when new projects are created. 
  • In this release, Q&A digest emails will be sent at 8 AM GMT (3 AM ET) to ensure that those using the Q&A feature will have their Q&A digest email first thing in the morning.

  • We’re excited to announce that we are completing our platform migration to Amazon Web Services (AWS). You might recall that we first announced our migration work when we introduced the new Firmex UI this past fall. Migrating to AWS will improve your experience in using the Firmex VDR due to the underlying technical reliability, availability and responsiveness improvements. In order to migrate your project and site databases to AWS, you will have an additional maintenance window scheduled in March or April. Your maintenance window will take place between 9pm and 2am EST, outside of normal business hours. During this time, your VDR will not be available.

  • This month we made every Firmex VDR better and faster by releasing changes to the file download speed and in-browser file download limits. Specifically, download speeds for single file downloads have been improved by up to 25%. In addition, we've increased the in-browser download limit from 1GB to 20GB.   • Starting this month, new projects will have a default numbering schema for folders of 1.1.1.1. Roman numerals will continue to be supported, but will not be the default. This will improve the available characters in folder paths when bulk downloading. Schema applied to existing projects will remain the same. Learn more about Firmex numbering schema.

  • Increased the maximum number of characters for an SSO IdP URL from 100 to 263 characters.

  • This month we've introduced an Activity Feed to re-opened Q&A questions. The Activity Feed provides a timestamped paper trail of your entire conversation surrounding a question. This is especially useful, as after a few iterations the original context of the question may have gotten lost.

  • This month we've introduced new Q&A functionality that gives you increased control over your Q&A workflow. When answering a question, and adding a document to that answer, the default behaviour is now to hold the document until the question has been answered. Learn more about Q&A answer attachments.

  • This month we've added two new reports that let you segment your data By Group. What this means is that you can now look at your reports in the way that you’ve organized your users. Learn more about Firmex's By Group reports.

  • This month we've added the ability for an administrator to reset a user's Google Authenticator app settings. This is useful in cases where a user loses access to their Authenticator app (lost or new phone, factory reset on a phone, etc.). Learn more about Firmex's Two-Factor Authentication.
  • This month we've added Microsoft Authenticator and Authy, in addition to Google Authenticator, as Two-Factor Authentication methods. Learn more.

  • Fixes an issue with the appearance of the QR code during the Authenticator app setup. 
  • Fixes an issue where the Site User list can now be sorted by the Two Factor Authentication method.

  • This month we've enhanced the search capabilities in Firmex by introducing Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to the VDR. OCR allows scanned documents to be easily searched when working within the VDR.    
  • This month we're introducing an additional security feature for administrators to better manage user access to the data room, and to simplify the end-user experience. We've added Google Authenticator as a Two-Factor Authentication method. Learn more.

  • Fixes an issue in Q&A where re-opening a question with a previously submitted answer did not auto-quote the previous answer into the revised answer.

  • This month we've made improvements to the way Excel documents are displayed in the Firmex Viewer. Excel spreadsheets are now easier to view and navigate; column and row headers are now present. The improved Firmex Viewer now has the ability to tile watermarks across the spreadsheet.

  • We've released a new report - Firmex Support Activity - that shows Site Administrators when and for how long Firmex Support is inside your VDR.   • Fixes an issue where the "New Since" Quick View was not displaying certain results when the report was being run in Europe.

  • We've increased the upload size of our web uploader from 5GB to 10GB. Uploads larger than 10GB can still be done using our Desktop Upload tool.
  • In this release we’ve also made implementing SSO even easier. We’ve added support for VMWare, in addition to supporting all major SSO providers: Microsoft ADFS, Okta, OneLogin, and Azure Active Directory. Read more.

  • Fixes an issue in the Login Activity By User report where some users showed multiple logouts over a single project session.

  • The site-level "Storage Use by Project" report and the project-level "Storage Report" will now show the total storage of the project in Gigabytes (GB) instead of Megabytes (MB).

  • We've added a File Size column to the Export Directory listing. The new column displays the size of every document in your project. Using your spreadsheet application, you can determine the size of folders and directories.

  • Fixes an issue where the date format in certain Site Reports did not display correctly.
  • Fixes an issue where the Login Activity By User report shows some IP addresses as 127.0.0.1.

MARCH 2020

  • We've re-designed the Document Activity Notification Email. The new email will display up to 100 documents, with links to the remaining documents. Previously a user could receive hundreds of emails if tens of thousands of documents were uploaded.
  • We've made it easier to move and copy content that has document protection applied to it. As long as the document protection in the destination folder is greater to or equal to the protection in the source folder, the content can be moved or copied.

  • Fixes an issue where View As did not open in a new tab from Groups & Users.
  • Fixes an issue where some reports showed a user's IP addresses as 0.0.0.0.

  • We've updated the look and feel of our reports. You'll notice new colours, a more consistent look across reports, and pie charts instead of donut charts.
  • When you update your User Profile details, you will no longer be asked to confirm your password. The only exception will be when you update your phone number - a password is still required for security purposes.

  • Fixes an issue where the first Q&A question was not being generated as a text file in the Q&A archive.
  • Fixes an issue in the Set Permissions window where both options - "Apply to Folder and Subfolders" and "Apply to Folder" - were not being treated equally graphically.
  • Fixes an issue in SSO where a user's password has expired and they were prompted to change their Firmex password.

  • When you request a single file that is less than 1GB in size, you can now bypass the compression step. The file will be delivered to you immediately. Single files larger than 1GB in size will still be delivered to you in a compressed ZIP format.

  • Fixes an issue in the login screen where after entering an email, the password field was not automatically focused. This has been fixed.

  • As a Firmex subscriber, you can now integrate the Firmex VDR with your SAML 2.0 based Single Sign On (SSO) provider, including Okta, Azure Active Directory, and OneLogin. Read more.

  • Fixes an issue in Q&A where the paperclip & speech bubble icons were not appearing for linked documents.

AUGUST 2019

  • You can now upload a new supporting document to a Q&A answer directly from the answer. This simplifies the Q&A experience as previously you would have to add a new document from the Documents tab.
  • In the Import Checklist, items marked as "Level 1" in the Excel spreadsheet will now be imported as Directories, instead of folders. This simplifies the process of importing more than one directory at a time.

  • Fixes an issue where the chart in the Log In Activity > By Company and Log In Activity > By User reports were not updating with the selected filtered results.

  • The Office field is now optional when adding users to a group. This reduces the amount of information required to add a user to the VDR.

  • You are now able to control the frequency of Q&A task notification emails. Groups may want to set their task notifications to None - as opposed to Immediate - at the beginning of the Q&A process.
