  1. Firmex will no longer support the Java applets as an uploading and downloading method using Internet Explorer.
  2. In anticipation of this, we have made improvements so that you can use our recommended alternatives in all the situations where Java would have been useful.
  3. We encourage all users to use the HTML5 uploader supported by Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, or to use our Document Exchange for Desktop application.

Why was Java removed?

To stay ahead of any potential security risks, Firmex will remove Java-based upload and download options in the Internet Explorer browser. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and other major browsers no long offer support for Java applets. Additionally, Oracle has now deprecated the Java browser plugin.

Please see this article for more information.

When is this happening?

Java-based upload and download will begin to be removed on June 10, 2018, with all sites being reached by August 8, 2018.

What methods will be supported in the future?

You can use an alternative method to download or upload as outlined below.

Uploading (documents and folders)
  • Standard uploads (HTML 5)

If you require assistance please contact Firmex support.
