When you request a zip download from Firmex that is larger than 20GB in size, the download is split into multiple parts:
- Part 1 is a .zip file
- Part 2 is a .z01 file
- Part 3 is a .z02 file
- etc.
You must download all of these parts to the same folder on your computer in order to view the download. You must make sure the filenames are the same, as pictured in the screenshots below. You must also use an application like 7-Zip (Windows or Mac) or Winzip (Windows or Mac) to extract the download, rather than your operating system’s built-in zip extractor.
1. Download all the parts to the same folder on your computer
Download all the parts to the same location on your computer before trying to extract the .zip file.
For example, if your download contains three parts, your folder should contain one .zip file, a .z01 file, and a .z02 file.
What do I do with the .z01 and .z02 files?
You do not need to do anything with the .z01 and .z02 files. WinZip and 7-Zip will extract the contents of the files for you.
2. Download WinZip or 7zip
You will need an application like WinZip or 7zip to extract the .zip files and .z01 files.

Download 7-Zip (Windows or Mac)
3. Extract the .zip file
Right-click the .zip file and choose WinZip > Extract to here or Extract Here with 7-Zip. The contents of your bulk download will be extracted to the folder you are in. There is no need to click the .z01 or .z02 files.
4. Viewing the content of the bulk download
The extracted content contains an interactive web-page of your project, and a folder structure containing your project’s documents. Both may be copied to a USB or hard drive for backup purposes.
